Louie Dondero was a wrestler who was best known as the longtime partner of the late Pat Patterson, a Canadian–American professional wrestler.

Dondero and Patterson were together for 40 years until the time of his death.

Dondero was in a relationship and dating fellow wrestler Pat Patterson. The couple met in the early ’60s while Pat was working for Tony Santo’s Big Time Wrestling promotion.

He and Pat began dating then and stayed together for 40 years until Dondero died in 1998.

Although his sexuality has been long known to the public, Pat came out as gay publicly in a 2014 episode of the WWE reality show Legends’ House.

Louie Dondero Death

Dondero died on June 28, 1998, after being together with Pat for 40 years. He died the same night the Undertaker threw Mick Foley from the top of the Hell in a Cell cage.

In his 2016 memoir, Accepted: How the First Gay Superstar Changed WWE, Pat recalled how Foley consoled him “while his tooth still hung by his nose.”

He also went ahead to talk about his late partner saying; “Louie has been gone for more than fifteen years now and I am still close with his brothers and sister as well as our nieces and nephews. They are my family.”

Dondero died of a heart attack on June 28, 1998.

In 2019, he won the WWE 24/7 Championship at age 78 becoming the wrestler to win a title in WWE history.

Patterson died on December 2, 2020, from a liver failure caused by a blood clot at a hospital in Miami. He was 79 years old at the time of his death.
