Girl Named Tom Biography
Based in Indiana, Girl Named Tom is a band consisting of three small-town siblings named Caleb Joshua, Bekah Grace, and Joshua Liechty.
The three siblings formed the band in 2019. Bekah’s nickname, Tom was the inspiration behind the band’s name.
The brothers, Caleb and Joshua graduated from Goshen College. While there they minored in piano performance and vocal performance respectively. Bekah plans on attending the same college.
Girl Named Tom Wins The Voice
On December 14, 2021, the sibling trio was crowned the winners of season 21 of The Voice USA. This win made them the first group in the NBC singing competition.

As of 2024, Caleb is 28 years old, Joshua is 25 years old and Bekah is 23 years old.
Girl Named Tom Parents
The trio’s mother’s name is Holly Liechty and their father is named Chris Liechty. Their mother is the one who inspired the sibling band idea and their father was in full support.
In an interview with record.goshen.edu, Caleb revealed that their mother realized that the siblings were positioned to make the band work between their schooling.
“We’d always been told we should be the next Von Trapp singers, but none of us kids had ever taken the idea seriously until our parents supported it,” Caleb added.
Girl Named Tom Father’s Health
After the sibling trio was named the winners of The Voice season 21, they shared a statement thanking their fans for their support. In the same statement, the siblings shared an update about their father’s health. He is battling terminal cancer.
The statement read; “As we are writing this statement, our dad is in horrific pain following yet another surgery. The only reason we are still in Los Angeles is that our parents want us out here, doing what we love…
“Some might think that this is the worst timing — our father taking such a downward spiral at the exact moment of our success on national TV. In truth, we feel fortunate and blessed by this joyful distraction. The Voice has given our family opportunities to connect, reflect, and marvel at the love we have for each other.”
Girl Named Tom Band
As a band, the siblings released a five-song debut EP called “Another World” in 2019. They also have a single called “Backup Plan” which was released in early 2021 as well as an album of mostly cover songs, “Hits from the Road.”
On their website, the band has shared their goal which is to create harmony in a society divided. “We believe that as we share our music with our three unique voices, we can inspire the world with a common goal: To fly and help each other fly.”
Girl Named Tom Tour
The band toured in 2020. They toured New York, Vermont, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Washington, D.C., Virginia, and North Carolina. Speaking in an interview about the tour, Bekah said;
“Going on tour this year has been a different form of education but I am thankful for the opportunity to explore more of the music world and feed my passion for music.”
