A native of Mount Vernon, New York, Tami Roman born Tamisha Akbar is an American television personality, model, businesswoman, and actress. In 1993, she made headlines for her role on The Real World: Los Angeles.
Roman became one of the breakout stars of VH1’s Basketball Wives after making cameo appearances and starring in supporting roles in various television shows and films in the 1990s and 2000s.

Roman is the loving daughter of an African-American mother, Nadine Buford, her mother, and her Puerto Rican father who left the family when Nadine got pregnant with Tami. Her mother later got remarried to a Muslim family but the marriage did not last long. She later lost her job and Tami had to live on the road for some time. It was really difficult for them but Roman later got an opportunity to work the MTV on Real World.
