From 2005 to 2010, she went on to provide weather forecasts to AccuWeather clients including Fox News, CNBC, and ABC. Moreover, she worked for six years at AccuWeather and later left. She left AccuWeather to join Bloomberg Television Network in 2010 as a morning weather anchor.

Bilo became the chief meteorologist for the station in 2015, providing forecasts for the evening news. However, in January 2023, she was moved to daytime news coverage, where she continues to do weather forecasts as well as produce additional features for Channel 3’s streaming network.
The reason for this change was to address the growing demand for weather coverage on the streaming channel and to allow Kate to spend more time with her family. She was replaced by Bill Kelly, who joined Channel 3 from WJLA in Washington, D.C., as the new chief meteorologist.

When Bilo was a few months away from giving birth to her second baby, she received threatening messages via Twitter messages by a Lansdowne, Pennsylvania man. The man had declared that he would kill her in front of her son Leo. However, he was tracked down and was sentenced to five years in federal prison.
