Huff joined WTVC, Chattanooga, Tennessee in 1982 and left in 1983. In 1983, she joined WRBL as a meteorologist reporter. After two years in 1985, Janice earned her American Meteorological Society’s Seal of Approval for Television Weathercasting. From WRBL, Huff joined KSDK, St. Louis, Missouri as an on-air meteorologist.
Huff was hired by NBC affiliate, KRON in San Francisco in April 1991. In addition to her meteorologist duties, Huff hosted “Bay Area’s Best Bets.” She was named “Clean Air Hero” by the American Lung Association. Janice launched the nationally syndicated program “Weather School” in 1992.
In 1995, Huff moved to WNBC. She was the weekend meteorologist for “Today in New York,” “News Channel 4” at 6 and 11 p.m programs. He 2001, she started presenting the show “Live at Five”. Currently, she hosts “Wednesday’s Child.” The show airs on Wednesdays during “News 4 You” and on “Sunday Today in New York.”
Janice has previously served as a meteorologist on Weekend Today appearing on Saturdays and Sundays and later on Sundays only. She left the show on April 30, 2012. She also hosted a lottery game show called NY Wired for a year from 1997 to 1998.
Janice has received the prestigious Administration for Children’s Services’ “2004 Golden Heart Award,” the 2004 “Miracle Makers Media Award” and the Second Annual “Nicholas Scoppetta Award. She also received the Police Athletic League’s “2002 Woman of the Year Award.” In 1988, Janice was awarded the St. Louis Emmy Award for “Best Weathercaster”. In 2016, she was inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Hall of Fame.
