Harry Shum Jr. is an American Costa Rican-American actor, singer, dancer, and choreographer best recognized for his role as Mike Chang on the Fox television series Glee.

He played the role of Magnus Bane in the tv series Shadowhunters for which he won The Male TV Star of 2018 in the E! People’s Choice Awards. Harry has also appeared in films like; Step Up 2: The Streets, White Frog, Revenge of the Green Dragons, Crazy Rich Asians, and Love Hard.

At the age of 18, Harry was spotted by choreographers Rosero McCoy and Jamal Sims who took him on a UK tour with the singer Kaci. He went on to appear as the only male dancer on BET’s Comic View. He also starred in Apple iPod advertisements as dancing silhouettes. In 2004, Shum joined Alicia Keys, Beyonce, and Missy Elliot in their co-headlining tour Ladies First. Shum has also worked as a backup dancer for artists like Jennifer Lopez, Jessica Simpson, and Mariah Carey.

Shum appeared in the films Step Up 2 and Step Up 3D. He was later cast as Mike Chang in the tv series Glee. He later became a choreographer and a dancer for the dance group The LXD. He choreographed the performances on Ellen’s Even Bigger Really Big Show, So You Think You Can Dance, and the 82nd Academy Awards. Shum worked in a short film called 3 Minutes in 2011.
