DJ Spinderella born Deidra Muriel Roper, is an American Dj, rapper, and producer best known as a member of the hip hop group Salt-N-Pepa. She has also appeared in a reality tv show focusing on the group called The Salt-n-Pepa Show. The tv show aired on the VH1 network in 2008.

Roper gained her interest in music at the young age of 14. She got her djing skills from a Dj boyfriend she was dating during her sophomore year. At 16, she got to audition for Hurby “LuvBug” Azor after a classmate introduced them. After the audition, she was selected to be the Dj of the all-female rap group. Around the time that she joined the group, their first album was being released.

The group would become one of the most successful female hip-hop acts of all time. The group released five studio albums. They had several of their singles go platinum and gold. Roper also produced several songs. She featured as a rapper in Big Daddy Kane’s single Very Special. The group broke up in 2002 and re-united in 2007. Spinderella was fired from the group in 2019.

Roper has previously worked as a radio personality on KKBT 100.3 in Los Angeles. She co-hosted the weekly radio show The BackSpin. She has also appeared on several episodes of The Salt N Pepa Show on VH1. Roper also worked for KSOC-94.5 “K-Soul” in Dallas, Texas. Aside from Djing, Roper is a member of the American Diabetes Association Celebrity Cabinet.

She is also a TV ONE UnSung Ambassador and supports the Saving Our Daughters Mentoring Program. Roper is the founder of the Spinderella DJ Academy. In 2004, the group appeared on the first Hip Hop Honors on VH1 and performed on the second Hip Hop Honors in 2005. In 2008, the group performed their singles “Shoop”, “Push It”, and “Whatta Man” at the BET Hip Hop Awards. Roper has appeared as Dj on The Comedy Central Roast of Flavor Flav in 2007.
