Aarón Sánchez Biography
A native of Chihuahua, Mexico Aarón Sánchez is a Mexican celebrity chef, restaurateur, television personality, cookbook author, and philanthropist.
He is known for being the executive chef and part-owner of the Mexican restaurant Johnny Sánchez in New Orleans. Moreover, he co-starred on Food Network’s hit series Chopped and Chopped Jr. He also hosted Cooking Channel’s Emmy-nominated Taco Trip. Additionally, Aarón appeared on Iron Chef America and is one of the few chefs whose battles have ended in a draw, tying with Masaharu Morimoto in “Battle Black Bass” in Season 2.

Aaron has a twin brother named Rodrigo who is an attorney in New York City. The brothers were both born to Zarela Martinez, their mother, and Adolfo Sanchez, their father.

Their father is a restaurateur and the author of several cookbooks while their father not much is known about him although he moved to El Paso, Texas sometime later. Sanchez started cooking from a very young age initially by helping his mother prepare traditional Mexican foods for her catering business.
The family moved to New York in 1984 and his mother started the acclaimed Café Marimba. It was here that Sanchez began to cook in a professional kitchen. Aaron was sent by his mother to New Orleans at the age of 16 to spend the summer working with Chef Paul Prudhomme.

From 2009 up until 2012, Sanchez had been married to singer Ifé Mora. The beautiful couple had been blessed with a son called Yuma.
Aarón Sánchez Restaurant
In August 2014, Sanchez alongside his fellow chef John Besh partnered together to open their first restaurant called Johnny Sanchez in Baltimore. Unfortunately, the Baltimore location closed in September 2017. Despite that, the duo opened a second location in October 2014 in New Orleans.
Unfortunately as of February 2019, Besh is no longer a part of Johnny Sanchez. However, Aaron has partnered with Miles Landem and Drew Mire and they all purchased and currently own the restaurant. The three partners also are planning to develop a second restaurant in New Orleans, eyeing the Mid-City area, though the name and location have not been announced.
