Dan encourages the use of meditation and uses a method of watching the breath. On his 10% Happier podcasts, he does interviews with other meditators. In addition, he has books namely 10% Happier: How I Tamed the Voice in My Head, Reduced Stress Without Losing My Edge, and Found Self-Help That Really Works – a True Story, which was published in March 2014. Due to having an on-air panic attack in 2004, Harris has said that his self-examination, abandonment of drugs, and adoption of meditation were his go-to activities.
Good Morning America
In 2000, Harris joined the ABC News channel. From 2006 to 2011, he anchored World News Sunday and frequently anchored World News, ABC World News Tonight weekend editions, and Nightline. In addition, he was a frequent contributor to World News. In September 2005, he anchored ABC’s coverage of Hurricane Katrina.
Dan was named the new co-anchor of the weekend edition of Good Morning America in October 2010. He was later named a co-anchor for Nightline, succeeding Bill Weir in October 2013. In August 2021, he announced that he would be leaving ABC News to focus on his meditation company.
On September 26th, 2021, he retired from ABC News. In addition to reporting on a range of natural disasters and several mass shootings, and from multiple combat zones, Harris has led the network’s reporting on religion, especially evangelicalism, and once spent 48 hours in solitary confinement for a story on criminal justice.
